Around South Yarra, St Kilda and Prahran

This post has some images from walks close to 505: we took a tram to the start of the St Kilda leg.  The map shows the three areas.

1: South Yarra panhandle

This is a little bit of a cheat as I don't yet have any photos from the area.  I have it on our list for future expeditions with camera in hand and possibly focusing on chimneys!

We did two morning walks there, extending from Fawkner Park across Toorak Road and up different streets to Domain Rd.  The area has a lot of non-modern buildings - in the Western element dominated by places adorned with Melbourne Grammar logos.

2: St Kilda East

I discovered this area when driving along Barkly Rd, coming back from Rickett's Point.  It looked interesting so we took a tram to the Barkly Rd stop.  There is an impressive amount of street art at the St Kilda Junction stop!
As we passed the Espy, Frances noted a huge mural of Paul Kelly on the Western side of the pub.  A visit is needed.  However on this trip my next image was in the Acland Court shopping centre.
This is at the end of Mittford St, en route to the St Kilda Botanic Gardens.
Rain Man!  In the Gardens.
An invasive Rainbow Lorikeet!
A very well maintained rose garden.  The contrast with the scruffy wasteland at Parliament House - formerly known as the National Rose Garden - in Canberra is dramatic.
I am unsure whether his lady was doing Tai Chi or some form of martial arts practice.  I have obfuscated her face.
This - across the road from the gardens - is where the artist Albert Tucker lived.  He did most of his work in the stables on the left,
This work - on the corner of Foster and Carlisle Streets - possibly features another image of Paul Kelly.
Behind the National Theatre, in the J Talbot Reserve, is an excellent mosaic.

I particularly liked these tiles showing the Espy.
I don't know what the Mango Mussolini (or Adolf Kipfler, if he was more than usually alert) would make of the auxiliary element on this traffic sign.  Evidence of woke culture in Port Phillip Council?

3: Prahran

The target for for this walk was Andrew Isles bookshop in Prahran which was its usual interesting self.  I was relieved that we spent about $3,000 less this visit than last (several years ago, when I ordered a full set of hard copy of HANZAB)!

The walk is quite interesting going past Wesley College and then the College Lawn Hotel on Greville St.  I like the eyes!
I think these Fuchsias are above Greville St as it passes Grattan Gardens.
I suspect this mural will vanish soon, depending on the nature of the work.
