Bits of Prahran in an evening or two

Or in fact 3 evenings - see addition at the end.

This covers a few snaps in various bits of Prahran (now and then).

It begins with us going to the Prahran Mechanic Institute Library for a talk about stained glass windows as War Memorials (aimed to happen on Remembrance Day).  This was the opening slide of a relatively brief Powerpoint which started the Presentation.

The speaker was Dr Bronwyn Hughes OAM an art historian specialising in stained glass.  She has established GLAAS Inc (GLASS LIGHT ART & ARCHITECTURE SYNERGIES) based nearby at 140 High St.  She then ran the film Let the Sun Shine In covering 5 windows in Australia covering major conflicts from the Boer War to Vietnam.  To watch the film, scroll down a screen in the linked page and press an obvious button. It is a ripper of a film.

On the way back to 505 we passed through Prahran Square where an installation has been established.  It includes lots of bubbles once fully operational. but that was not there on the 11th.  As we approached the cloudy sky was impressive.

Clouds continued to be impressive from out Winter Garden (note that this area used to be in Prahran until ~1995 when Jeff Kennett 💩 shifted it to Melbourne).
A little later ~2030 hrs showing the windows and plants of the Garden.
The next few images come from the following evening as we sat in the Winter Garden watching the sunset, after commenting on how far it had moved along the horizon. In June the sun sets behind buildings across St. Kilda Rd - red arrow: tonight itwas approximately the orange arrow.  It still has about 6 weeks to shuffle along before the next solstice.
The following photograph shows what happens when you try saving a 2.9Mb file to a size of 1000 x 750 pixcels, limited to 100 Kb.  As Irfan Škiljan (developer of IrfanView) has commented to me, "you can't fit a gallon in a pint pot".
Reducing the pixcel count (and thus file size) before saving gives a more intelligible image. This was taken at 19:02:48hrs.
19:05:58 hrs (ie 3 minutes after the one above).
19:06:08- zooming affects exposure.

On the evening of the 5th we went back to Prahran Square for the bubbles event.  On the last cultural event we went to there the crowd was barely big enough (perhaps 30 folk) to justify that term.  For this event, at least the 1800 hrs showing, it was at least a mob, approaching a horde.

I'm not sure what Fed Square was like to cause the Amyl and the Sniffers gig to be cancelled but this was plenty populated.
They had a couple of machines generating bubbles and at least a couple of masked people manually adding in quite large bubbles.
Some horde views from an upper position.
